On Wednesday 3 July 2024, NDCO held a farewell rehearsal with our outgoing Music Director, Sara Young, at St John's Church in Hurst Green.
It was a well attended rehearsal with regular members, orchestra friends and some members who hadn’t played with us for a while!
We had a short rehearsal playing songs chosen by members, including favourites like Mamma Mia and Liberty Bell. We finished off playing one of Sara's favourites, performed at her recent farewell concert - Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.
The rehearsal was followed by a party, with plenty of refreshments provided by the committee. We toasted our outgoing Musical Director and Alison, on behalf of members, presented her with a selection of gifts. This included a framed photo of the orchestra, taken at Sara’s last and sell-out concert held at Millennium Theatre, Woldingham School at the end of May.
It was truly a special evening celebrating our wonderful time together with Sara. We wish her all the best with her next chapter. We will miss her support, sense of humour and boundless enthusiasm. Good luck Sara!
