Rehearsals

Dates and venues of our rehearsals and sectionals are currently being revised due to Covid 19 again in January 2022. The most current information for dates and venues is on the rehearsal calendar at the foot of this page.

COVID-19 Notice

Due to COVID-19, we have altered our regular in-person rehearsal schedule and venues.

In-Person Rehearsals and Sectionals

As of 26th May 2021 we are able to return to in-person rehearsals and sectionals. All members and attendees are expected to follow COVID-secure guidelines and maintain social distancing. We are fully risk-assessed and compliant. We are very much looking forward to playing together in person again!

It is necessary for members to book in advance into each rehearsal and sectional event for NHS track and trace purposes. You can find a list of upcoming rehearsals and book online directly on the Members Area page. New or prospective members, please contact us if you would like to attend a rehearsal.

Dates and venues of rehearsals and sectionals are again under review in January 2022. Full orchestra rehearsals and string sectionals will be held at the Dining Room, Hazelwood School and wind sectionals will be back at the Oxted Red Cross Hall on Tuesdays. Sometimes alternative venues may be used.  Current information for dates and venues is on the rehearsal calendar at the foot of this page.

Zoom Virtual Play-Alongs

Throughout 2020 and into 2021, we have been holding virtual rehearsals and sectionals on Zoom. These are still available for those who cannot attend the in-person sectionals during this COVID-19 transition period.

Zoom virtual rehearsals take place on the 2nd, 4th (and sometimes 5th) Wednesdays at 7:30pm. Please refer to the calendar below for our next scheduled rehearsal. Zoom meeting details are emailed to members prior to the rehearsal.

New Members

For prospective members who would like to join us for the first time while we are observing COVID-19 guidelines, please drop us a note via the contact form beforehand so we can send you the relevant information for either Zoom or in-person rehearsals. We are non-auditioned and do not require grades, and we would love to hear from you!

Schedules & Venues

Until the Omicron Variant came along we had planned dates and venues of rehearsals and sectionals to be  returning to near 'normal' in January 2022.  However we are now needing to review all our arrangements.  Hopefully full orchestra rehearsals and string sectionals will be held either at the Hazelwood School Dining Room, or another venue, and wind sectionals will be back at the Oxted Red Cross Hall, or another venue, on Tuesdays.  Full rehearsals are generally twice a month and sectionals once a month. Please see the rehearsal calendar below for the most up-to-date schedule and venues.

Players are asked to bring along their own music stands and a mug for tea breaks. Please note that full-orchestra rehearsals and sectionals take place at different venues.
