On Sunday, 23rd June at St John's Church Hurst Green, the North Downs Community Orchestra shared a rich variety of tunes with their enthusiastic audience. The concert was titled 'A Summer Prom' with a programme which was rounded off with several 'Prom' favourites.
Our orchestra's range of repertoire is always diverse - on this occasion ranging from 'Go West!' (Western themes) to 'Pomp and Circumstance No 1'! In between there were pieces of many vintages showcasing different sections of the orchestra. Some with audience participation involved such as clapping along to 'Born this Way' and hurrying us along in the Radetski March then singing to 'Jerusalem' and 'Land of Hope and Glory'.
Sara Young conducted the orchestra and ensured a lively and fun evening. Just what is required for "The Fun Orchestra"!
What did they do for the encore? There are always plenty of exciting favourites but the members chose 'The Great Escape' to play again.
